Liverpool - Land Of The Giants.
The giants by French company Royal De Luxe came alive on the streets of Liverpool last Friday and during the weekend. Thousands came out to view the Grandmother Giant, Little Girl Giant and her dog Xolo in glorious sunshine.
I managed to catch sight of them at various Liverpool landmarks including St.George's Hall, the two cathedrals,Chinatown and at the Albert Dock and Pier head.

Sleeping Giant
Thousands waited outside St.George's Hall in the searing heat to catch a glimpse of the Grandmother Giant inside the Hall. The 20 ft long Grandmother did not disappoint though she was only sleeping.

Spring Has Sprung In Sefton Park, Liverpool
A sea of yellow daffodils greets you as you visit Sefton Park in springtime. The Marie Curie Field of Hope never fails to impress. Refreshments can be bought from The Boathouse kiosk close to the edge of the lake.
Further in the park is the wonderful Palm House and there is a cafe near the centre next to the Eros fountain.

St.Luke's Church, Liverpool
St.Luke's Church, also known as the bombed-out-church, sits on the corner of Berry Street, Liverpool - it is the building you see when you look down Bold Street. The Gothic style church was completed in 1832 and was known as the 'doctors' church' because of its close proximity to Rodney Street where many doctors practised.
Unfortunately, it was hit by a German incendiary device during the May blitz of 1941 leaving only its outer shell.
It is now run by Urban Strawberry Lunch and used as a venue to show films and hosts music and tai chi events. There are also drumming sessions during the Chinese New Year.

Changing Light Over The Mersey
Last Tuesday, 12th March, saw the first arrival of a cruise liner to visit Liverpool in 2014 - the MV Discovery. MV stands for motor vessel by the way. I spent an hour or two taking photos from Woodside in Birkenhead as the light fell over the Mersey.

Our Old Chippy In Anfield
I found this interesting photo of our old chippy while tidying up yesterday. It was taken on Townsend Lane in Anfield in the 1960's.The shop no longer exists. I think my parents had the shop for most of the 1960's it was sold in the early 70's. I remember going there on Saturdays; the shop was at the front, then there was like a lounge then a kitchen at the back. I always remember the warmth of the coal fireplace which lit up the lounge. The rooms upstairs were dark - I thought they were haunted.
