Liverpool People and Places: May 2015

The arrival of the 3 Cunard liners(Queen Mary 2,Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria) in Liverpool on Sunday May 24th and Monday 25th May, 2015 provided the city with a great spectacle and attracted about a million people to the banks of the Mersey to witness this historic occasion.

They were here to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the founding of the Cunard shipping line.

Colourful projections were displayed on the Three Graces(Liver,Cunard and Port of Liverpool buildings) at night followed by fireworks on the River Mersey. Street entertainers delighted the public during the day and there was plenty of ice cream and street food on offer.

Monday saw the last liner, the Queen Victoria, leave the port with flag waving spectators at the cruise liner terminal next to the Pier Head.
